Eames Rocker

Mid-century modern furniture is hot now. The Eames molded plastic rocker came out in 1948. It was also called the RAR (rocking armchair rod). It went out of production in the 1970s, but made a comeback during this decade. This chair (an original made in the 1950s) was made with fiberglass-reinforced plastic. Today's models are made from molded polypropylene.

The design of the chair includes a shell with a deep seat pocket, armrests and a high backrest. The Eames wire base is set atop two runners for a smooth rocking motion.

So Bad It's Good

There's just something about a chair stuck in some corner of a third world market. I can bet that you've never seen arm rests like this. The chair is made of tightly stitched vinyl over a wrought iron skeleton.

Note also that nothing really matches in this image--the imitation wood floor tiles, the corrugated aluminum that's painted brown in the background and, of course, the chair.

It's so bad it's good!

Mid-Century Modern Chair Test

Remember those days when you had to answer the question: "Which one of these does not belong?"

In the above picture I've represented that theme in this small collage with some artistic objects.

Just one more creative thing you can do with art photography and a little photoshop.

P.S. I made these images black and white so they'd look more similar to each other.

Do you know which one doesn't belong in the picture?
